Yakitori Umeya
[A shop with a Showa-era feel: Yakitori dipped in a secret sauce]
Located in front of Yanagawa City Hall, the restaurant has counter seating and raised seating, creating a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of the Showa era.
This yakitori restaurant has been loved by locals for 42 years since it opened in 1980.
On the day I visited, customers began arriving as soon as the store opened. Take-out orders also came in one after another.
Since the restaurant first opened, it has only used domestic chicken and has added to its secret sauce to make its yakitori, which has been highly praised on review sites, with many saying, “The yakitori here is in a class of its own! It tastes the best!”
The menu includes not only yakitori, but also horse sashimi, horse liver, etc. In addition, Yanagawa’s specialty simmered kuchizoko, oden, and a wide variety of prepared foods are lined up on the counter.
The husband and his wife, who have been running the store for many years, work in perfect harmony. Even after many years, the store is always clean and lively with customers who drop in after work or on business trips.
