[We focus on seafood from Ariake and seasonal ingredients from Fukuoka Prefecture]

I visited the restaurant in late December. There was a cute Dianthus flower blooming in a pot at the entrance. This flower is known as one of the seven autumn herbs, but it is unusual to see it blooming in winter. The restaurant has counter seating and four tatami rooms. It is well-cleaned and has the fresh air you expect from a sushi restaurant. I noticed a large maneki-neko (beckoning cat) on the corner of the counter and a large teacup with the restaurant’s name on it. The restaurant was founded in 1980 and moved to its current location in 1996. The manager maintains a blog on the restaurant’s website.

They focus on using local seafood from Ariake and seasonal ingredients from Fukuoka Prefecture. The seafood is purchased fresh on the day from a contracted fishmonger, and the vegetables are grown by local farmers, and are cooked fresh. Many of their customers are locals, and they often come for celebrations and family parties. In addition to sushi, they also serve fried oysters and fried chicken, so families of all ages can enjoy themselves.

Normally, the restaurant would be used for celebratory events, but since the COVID-19 outbreak, the restaurant has also started offering the luxurious dishes it served in-house as a catering service. This is a restaurant you’ll want to visit again and again, where you can savor the luxury of local and seasonal ingredients.
