Kaneyoshi
[Spend an elegant time in a beautiful Japanese house]
As we drove along the Okihata River through the countryside away from the city, we came across a Japanese house with a beautiful garden, which was our destination. This restaurant was established in November 1998. We walked along the stone paving leading from the entrance to the front door, and when we opened the sliding door with the noren curtain hanging there, we were greeted by a vase of chrysanthemums.
They also do catering, and prepare bento boxes for celebrations and Buddhist ceremonies. Dining at the restaurant requires a reservation, and they mainly serve kaiseki cuisine. The restaurant is well-maintained and clean throughout. There is also a lovely tatami room with a view of the countryside from the window, and it is used by local people as a special venue for celebrations and memorial services. They serve kaiseki cuisine according to budget. As it is a reservation-only restaurant, it may seem intimidating, but they actually serve lunch, and they told us, “It’s a hidden gem at lunchtime, and many housewives come here.”
The lunch menu is reasonably priced. What’s more, you can enjoy a relaxing and elegant meal in a fine room with a relaxing suburban view. This is truly a hidden gem.
