Yanagawa Nabe (a hot pot of loaches)

Yanagawa Nabe, which has been popular since early times, can be cooked by covering the bottom of an earthenware pot with shaved burdocks; adding loaches to it; pouring beaten eggs; and then simmering them on a low flame. Though simple and old-fashioned, the dish is a delicacy.

Unagi no Seiro-mushi (eel steamed in a basket)

This dish has been loved as one of the specialties of Yanagawa. More than ten restaurants compete with each other over their own skills of grilling, steaming, and seasoning methods.

Cuisine Made of Fish and Shellfish from the Sea of Ariake

You can enjoy special delicacies that can be eaten only in Yanagawa. The ingredients are such rare fish and shellfish as mutsugoro, mekaja, umitake, Kohke and mate, all of which are from the Sea of Ariake.
